Prompts
-
Many stories of journeys are stories of desire. Looking at the paintings by Endmion6 and Michael Vincent Manalo, do a freewrite in a genre of your choice that reflects on one or both of these characters’ desires.
-
Write a poem that centers on a fairy tale or mythological hero in the aftermath of a climactic event, a piece of creative nonfiction that reflects on a fairy tale protagonist’s desire or journey and how you can relate to it, or a short story about a character whose desire for something propels them to leave the realm of the familiar. You can also mix and match these prompts (a poem about advice from a fairy tale character, etc.).
